malachi

so we have a college kid that goes out to the ranch a couple times a week and checks on the cows and feeds them.

last night was when he dropped off the new cows.  today he went to check on them and can't find malachi.  guess it wasn't such a good idea to drop off a baby longhorn in the middle of the night in a new place without a mama.  david is freaking out.

our ranch is 95 acres but there are 140 acres attached to it that's for sale and there is no fence between us and then behind us there is another 85 acres that is sold but we haven't put up a fence between us yet.  texas is a free range state so that means our cows can go on those other properties because there is no fence.  basically if you don't want other people's animals on your property you need to fence them out.  this has been necessary for us because the 140 acres has the only tank with water in it.  on that 140 acres someone has a lease with about 30 something cows on it.  that means they also come on our ranch as well.

when we went back out to the ranch guess what we found...

malachi found himself a new mama with the cow herd.  at least he is still alive.  now we just have to figure out how to get him to understand he's a longhorn.  guess that's what happens when you give them a cow for a mama.
