perspective

after i found toothpaste all over the girls bathroom i was thinking as i finished up dinner what a horrible day this was and thinking through all that stuff when the Spirit completely convicted everyone of my thoughts and showed me the truth.

it was a great lesson in perspective...

this morning i woke up on the wrong side of the bed and did not give my girls my first smile as i should have. the rest of the day progressed much better. took isabelle to school, sophia to dance, cleaned up a bit, picked sophia up and went out with her dance friends, picked up isabelle, went to costco and got great snacks and then went to the grocery store for a few things, then home to finish cleaning, baths, dinner, etc.

so it starts with me going upstairs to get the bath ready and looking around at the mess the girls have made everywhere and then seeing the bathroom with toothpaste all over the counter. sophia apparently did that so she got to clean it up. my thoughts before i talked to the girls were about how they never listen or follow simple rules and just do what they want. but then the Spirit showed me that a tube of toothpaste is just too tempting and fun for a 3 year old, what can you really expect except to keep reminding them it's not okay.

as i was getting ready to make dinner and went to the fridge for the meat i quickly realized i left the meat at the store. immediately my thoughts went to thinking about how if the kids were playing around distracting me i wouldn't have been in such a hurry and left it. immediately the Spirit changed that perspective to where i saw my girls sitting in the cart hugging and giggling together and i realized that my expectations and my perspective were off. they were having fun and enjoying each other. they weren't being terribly loud, louder than i would like but that's where my expectations are off. it was only my mistake forgetting the meat and in the end i found an alternative which probably made dinner a lot better in the long run.

i was so thankful to have the Spirit change my perspective to realize that today was not a horrible day as i wanted to present to my husband but it was actually a really good day of fun and getting needed things done. and now it is time to continue that and go mop my floors.

this is the girls cuddled up to watch tv while i made dinner.
